In Windows 8 and Windows RT there is a standard layout available for the touch keyboard. This layout has the alt, arrow, and function keys. It is disabled by default. To enable it, follow these steps:

Open up the settings charm by swiping across the right side of the screen.

Tap settings, then tap Change PC Settings at the bottom right of the screen.

Go to the “General” section of the PC settings list on the left hand column.

Scroll down to the “Touch Keyboard” section, and find the option “Make the standard keyboard layout available.”

Tap the slider to change it to on.

To use the standard layout touch keyboard:

When the touch keyboard is displayed on the screen, press the “Keyboard” key in the bottom right corner, and select the icon second closest to the right. It is normally between a pen in a square, and a square with an arrow below it.
